Reimagining the World with Depthkit

Depthkit keeps you ahead of the curve by combining live action 3D content with generative, simulated, and modeled assets. Visual effects artists build worlds and transport us into the future at the speed of light. Depthkit empowers vfx creators to capture live action 3D content and render infinite worlds with vibrant color and palpable dimensionality.

Volumetric Capture is Now an Accessible, Efficient Part of Your Visual Effects Workflow

The next generation of visual effects tools merge high resolution, photographically captured content with generative, simulated, and modeled assets. Depthkit brings these state-of-the-art capabilities to your trusted workflows. For artists and creatives working at the leading edge of visual content creation, the advancement of volumetric capture techniques allows a new dimension in creativity to be unlocked. However, large capture stages can be prohibitively expensive and inaccessible, which limits creative output and innovation. Depthkit is the world’s most widely used accessible volumetric capture toolkit, driving transformative experimentation and creation in high resolution, multi-dimensional graphics.

Depthkit’s visual effects capabilities are enabled through standard geometry formats that integrate across creative tools. The geometry export pipeline in Depthkit has been specially optimized to take full advantage of modern multi-core CPUs. This means lightning fast exports that allow you to spend more time on the creative process.

Optimized with Intel® Hardware for Stunning Depth Capture

While Scatter has made big efforts to make Depthkit more affordable to a wide variety of filmmakers, volumetric filmmaking generates a huge amount of data that will completely overwhelm an underpowered workstation. Luckily, there are a range of affordable laptops and PCs powered by an Intel® Core™ processor, which allow filmmakers to run Depthkit on computers they can afford.

Depthkit has been optimized to make full use of Intel® processors to ensure no frames are dropped and that it produces a stutter-free video. On top of that, Depthkit also takes advantage of the CPU hardware for capture and export, obtaining lightning-fast workflows to help speed up production timelines.

Additionally, Depthkit supports Intel® RealSense™ Depth Cameras, which are available at a budget price, furthering Scatter’s goal of making Depthkit an affordable and revolutionary 3D filmmaking solution.

"The footage that we made for the 2D version came alive in a 3D environment as an AR hologram experience. So we made an app where you can have the band in your living room or on the rooftop terrace as an Augmented Reality concert. I think this is a new way of thinking like multi-platform without having to make special recordings for every part of it.”
